Easter Services

Come celebrate Easter Sunday with us at Fairfield Church of Christ! Service times are at 8:45 and 11:15! If you regularly attend one of our small groups at 10am be sure to check with your class to see if you’re meeting! Children’s services will be provided during the 10am and 11:15 hours!

Lots of people have scars.  Every wound leaves a scar. Every scar tells a story. This sermon series is about the scars you have and the how Jesus has scars too - scars that show the possibility that God is real, that pain can bring hope, and that suffering can be turned into something beautiful.  Scars show the worst thing you’ve ever done was forgiven long before you did it.  Jesus scars will show that in the suffering, Jesus always saves! Jesus, our Lord and our God in the glory of the resurrection , still bears the wounds of His experience of God with us on earth.  The resurrection did not remove the human experience.  The risen Lord still bears on His body the scars that speak of the human suffering in all its forms.  His scars remind you that God is with you through all things, even the appalling, destructive and death-dealing times. The picture of the risen Christ with wounds on His hands and His side,  reminds you that when you suffer so did your God ; when you cry out in loneliness, so did your God.  When you feel abandoned and alone, you remember that Christ hung on a cross and screamed for you, “ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”  You don’t have a God who stands at a distance but one who entered fully into the realness of your pain.  So, when you suffer, you know that Christ can say, “I’ve been there, and I have the wounds to prove it!”

Holy Friday
Apr

7:00 PM19:00

Holy Friday

Holy is a word used to describe something that is set apart above all else. Throughout history the Friday leading into Easter has gone by many different names from Good Friday, Great Friday, Black Friday and Holy Friday. All of those titles revolve around the same idea that there is something special, something different, with this day... It is when we traditionally celebrate as the day Jesus was crucicifed. However while it is a day wrapped in sadness, we live on the other side of history konwing what Jesus did on the cross and what he did three short days later... Join us as we walk through the events leading up to Easter morning with a time a of worship, celebration, communion and prayer at 7pm on April 7th

Grief Journeys Seminar

When tragedy and loss happen, we struggle to know what to do.  We grieve and search for a way to cope.  The Grief Journeys Seminar is designed to help all of us through that grief. This is a faith-based gathering, so we will talk about the comfort and peace we can find in God, the awareness that grief is acceptable in God’s eyes, and also how to show compassion to help others in those difficult times.

Don Stowell has been the preaching minister at the Lockland (Cincinnati) Christian Church since 1999.   He is married to Sharlene and they have three grown daughters, five grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Don has conducted this Grief Journeys Seminar over the past 5 years.

The cost for this seminar is $10/person or $15/couple (payment will be collected day of the event). Registration includes a copy of Don’s book Helping You Through the Death of a Loved One, lunch and snacks. Register below!
